California Physician Set to Admit Guilt for Providing Ketamine to Matthew Perry

Dr. Salvador Plasencia, a California physician, has admitted to providing ketamine to Friends actor Matthew Perry in the period leading up to Perry’s fatal overdose. According to federal authorities, Dr. Plasencia will plead guilty to four counts related to the distribution of ketamine, facing a possible sentence of up to 40 years in jail. The actor, known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, was discovered dead in his hot tub in Los Angeles in October 2023, at the age of 54. Perry had previously spoken about his ongoing battles with depression and addiction, yet his death still came as a shock to many fans worldwide.

Details in the plea agreement reveal that Dr. Plasencia gave Perry ketamine injections both at Perry’s residence and in the parking lot of the Long Beach Aquarium. Furthermore, Dr. Plasencia instructed Perry’s personal assistant, another defendant in the case, on how to administer the drug and sold additional vials for them to keep at home.

Dr. Plasencia is among five individuals accused of running an illicit network responsible for supplying Perry with ketamine, despite the fact that Perry had a legal prescription for the drug to manage his depression. However, he reportedly desired quantities beyond his prescription. According to the agreement, between September 30, 2023, and October 12, 2023, Dr. Plasencia distributed twenty 5ml vials of ketamine (at a concentration of 100mg/ml), a less-than-full package of ketamine lozenges, and syringes to Perry and his assistant.

Dr. Plasencia’s legal team was unavailable for immediate comment.
