On 10 March, a minimum of 53 inmates managed to escape from Kutacane Penitentiary in Aceh, Indonesia, after breaching the primary entrance of the facility. Quaternion surveillance footage captures the escaped inmates sprinting across the rooftop and leaping over neighborhood vendors as they make their escape. As of Wednesday, 21 of the escapees have either surrendered or been apprehended, leaving 32 still at large. This security breach occurred during breakfast, a time when all inmates are required to line up for their meals. Authorities have associated this incident with the prison’s severe overcrowding problems. Although the prison has a capacity for only 100 individuals, it presently houses approximately 368 inmates, as reported by local sources.
