Recently, Ukraine expressed agreement to a 30-day ceasefire proposal, following discussions with the United States.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has subsequently endorsed the concept of a ceasefire in Ukraine, stating that there are still “queries” about the specifics of the truce.
Additionally, Putin has outlined a series of stringent prerequisites for peace. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has referred to Putin’s stance on the proposal as “manipulative” and is advocating for further economic sanctions against Russia.
In February 2022, Russia initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which followed Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. Since then, an ongoing war has been taking place.
