Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed a small group of journalists at Stansted Airport before heading back home after a summit with world leaders. In a show of support, the British state made an effort to provide Zelensky with all the necessary facilities during his visit following his interaction with Donald Trump and JD Vance. Zelensky embraced Sir Keir Starmer outside No 10 and had tea with King Charles. Despite the pressure, Zelensky expressed his determination not to give up and denied any need to apologize to Trump. He emphasized the need for Europe to strengthen its security guarantees and showed a willingness to sign a minerals deal with the US. Addressing reports of a potential truce as part of a peace plan put forth by Macron and Sir Keir, Zelensky remained open to discussions. The conversation, however, is expected to continue in the coming weeks or months. Zelensky’s message was one of firmness and resolve, while also expressing gratitude for the support from the US and other countries. Despite the political maneuvers, Zelensky focused on the importance of protecting Ukraine’s freedom and values. The conversation between world leaders and their teams behind closed doors remains significant in these ongoing discussions. The war in Ukraine remains a pressing issue with no clear end in sight.
