Fan of BTS Attempts to Enter Jungkook’s Residence Unlawfully

A woman in her 30s, obsessed with BTS member Jungkook, was apprehended for attempting to break into his home just hours after his completion of mandatory military service. Witnesses reported her trying to punch random numbers on the combination lock outside Jungkook’s apartment in Seoul at approximately 23:20 local time (15:20 BST) on Wednesday. The woman admitted to traveling to the country specifically to see the singer, leading to her arrest for trespassing.

Jungkook and three other bandmates were recently discharged from their mandatory military service, sparking a frenzy among fans and heightened anticipation for a possible comeback. All seven members of BTS are expected to be discharged from the military by the end of this month, according to their agency, Hybe, who has hints at a reunion. The group took a hiatus in 2022, at the peak of their global fame.

Hundreds of fans gathered outside Hybe’s headquarters to celebrate the band’s return. Many fans traveled from overseas, dressed in purple, the band’s signature color, and carried large banners and photographs. Jungkook expressed his gratitude towards fans for their support and acknowledged feeling a bit embarrassed after a while away from the cameras.

In South Korea, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are legally required to serve in the military for about two years. Exceptions are made for Olympic medallists and classical musicians. Prior to BTS’ enlistment, there was a heated debate regarding their eligibility for military service, with some arguing that their contributions to the country’s economy outweighed the need for them to serve. The band had previously won a deferral in 2020, delaying their duties until the age of 30. In 2022, the oldest member of BTS, Jin, enlisted, and the others followed suit.
