Heart-wrenching account of a young South African girl sold off by her own mother.

A video clip of laughter from six-year-old Joshlin Smith, who disappeared over a year ago in South Africa, left the courtroom in tears.

The video was shown in Saldanha Bay, near Cape Town, as part of the sentencing hearing for Joshlin’s mother – a drug addict convicted of selling her child for money.

Racquel Smith, also known as Kelly Smith, was found guilty along with her boyfriend Jacquen Appollis and Steveno van Rhyn. The court interpreter wept as she translated victim statements into English.
