Kristin Cabot Steps Down as Astronomer Following Viral Coldplay Video Controversy

A US tech company’s chief people officer has resigned after being caught on a big screen at a Coldplay concert embracing the company’s CEO. Astronomer’s chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, has left the company. This follows the departure of former CEO Andy Byron, who also left the company last week. The BBC could not confirm the identities of the individuals in the video. The video showed a man and a woman suddenly ducking and hiding after being shown on the screen. Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin joked to the audience about the pair either having an affair or being shy. The video went viral on social media and led to fake statements. The company announced an investigation and placed its CEO on leave. The following day, the company announced Mr. Byron’s resignation. Co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy was appointed as the interim CEO. Mr. DeJoy stated that the company became a “household” name almost overnight and would continue to build something great.
