Morrissey calls off American performances following a lethal threat in Canada

Renowned British artist Morrissey canceled two shows in the United States following a death threat received before a performance in Ottawa, Canada.
A 26-year-old man from Ottawa was released on bail after reportedly threatening the singer, Steven Morrissey, before his scheduled appearance at a music festival.
The music festival event in Ottawa proceeded as scheduled, while Morrissey later canceled two shows in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Morrissey, once the frontman of The Smiths, has been known for his strong stances on topics like animal welfare and politics.
Morrissey, known for his advocacy for animal welfare and political issues, was involved in the protest of the annual seal hunt in 2006, refusing to tour in Canada.
Following the threat against his life in Ottawa, Morrissey canceled shows in Connecticut and Boston.
“A credible threat on Morrissey’s life has been identified,” stated the Boston venue’s Instagram post.
“In an abundance of caution for both the artist and band’s safety, tomorrow’s engagement at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway has been canceled.”
