Moscow and Kiev engage in military operations following a conversation between Russian President Putin and US President Trump.

Russia and Ukraine have engaged in air attacks, resulting in damage to each other’s infrastructure, despite Vladimir Putin’s earlier statement that Russia would cease targeting Ukrainian energy sites.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of targeting hospitals and power supplies, stating that Putin’s actions effectively rejected a proposed comprehensive ceasefire during his conversation with US President Donald Trump.
Putin conveyed to Trump that a full ceasefire is only possible if Ukraine’s allies halt providing military assistance, a condition that Ukraine’s European allies have previously rejected.
In the southern Russian region of Krasnodar, officials reported a small fire at an oil depot caused by a Ukrainian drone attack.
Hours after Putin’s agreement to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, Zelensky stated that there were strikes, specifically on civilian infrastructure, including a hospital in Sumy.
Zelensky also mentioned that Russia launched over 40 drones against Ukraine following the call between Trump and Putin.
According to Zelensky, it is these nighttime attacks by Russia that destroy Ukraine’s energy sector, infrastructure, and disrupt daily life for Ukrainians.
Zelensky accused Putin of effectively rejecting the proposal for a full ceasefire.
Additionally, the Russian defense ministry claimed that they intercepted and destroyed 57 Ukrainian drones overnight, with 35 of those intercepted in the Kursk border region.
In Belgorod, a Russian region bordering Ukraine, the governor stated that the situation remains difficult, and Moscow mentioned that Ukrainian forces attempted a ground assault on Belgorod but were repelled.
Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, declined an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Ukraine, instead agreeing to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, following a call with US President Donald Trump.
Putin refused to sign up to the comprehensive month-long ceasefire that Trump’s team had negotiated with Ukraine in Saudi Arabia.
US discussions on Ukraine are set to continue on Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as announced by the US envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.
Zelensky stated last September that approximately 80% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was destroyed by Russian bombs.
In retaliation, Kyiv has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Russian oil and gas facilities deep within Russian territory.
