Anti-immigration protests have been organized by far-right and nationalist groups in various towns and cities across Poland. While the majority of the demonstrations attracted a few hundred people, there were estimates of around 3,000 participants in the largest rally held in Katowice. The protests raise concerns regarding the alleged flood of illegal migration in Poland, although the official figures do not support these claims. konfederacja, one of the organizers, urged for stricter immigration policies and deportation campaigns in order to maintain security. November saw rival rallies staged in the capital city of Warsaw, without any reports of violence. Right-wing politicians argue that Poland is at risk of being overwhelmed by immigrants, although there is a decrease in migration this year compared to the past years. Earlier this month, Poland introduced checks on its borders with Germany and Lithuania following Germany’s move to turn away asylum seekers.
