In the biggest Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, at least two people have been killed and another 17 injured, according to the city’s mayor. Ihor Terekhov stated that overnight, Russia launched 48 drones, as well as two missiles and four gliding bombs. He also mentioned that there is extensive damage, including three high-rise residential buildings being hit. Footage has emerged showing several storeys of one building on fire. On the previous night, six people were killed and 80 injured across Ukraine when Russia attacked the country with over 400 drones and nearly 40 missiles. The attack occurred days after Ukraine targeted Russian strategic warplanes at four air bases inside Russia with daring drone strikes. Ukraine’s security service SBU claimed at least 40 Russian aircrafts were struck during their Operation Spider Web last Sunday. They used 117 drones which were first smuggled into Russia, placed inside wooden cabins on trucks, and concealed below remotely operated detachable roofs. The trucks, driven by seemingly unaware drivers, were driven to locations near the air bases. The drones were then launched remotely. Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
