SpaceX’s newest generation rocket, Starship, has successfully completed a test flight, reversing a series of disappointing failures. The world’s largest and most powerful rocket launched from Texas at 18:30 local time (23:30 BST) for a 60-minute flight. The test proved positive, with the rocket reaching a maximum height of 200km above Earth before returning to Earth. However, some parts of the rocket appeared to explode during the flight, and the rocket’s flaps caught fire and swung wildly. Despite these setbacks, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hailed the success of the flight. Nasa plans to use Starship to send humans to the Moon as part of its ambitious Artemis program in 2027.
