During a visit to the $2.5 billion renovation project at the Federal Reserve, President Donald Trump and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell engaged in a tense exchange over the project’s timeline and cost, captured on camera.
This encounter represented the first public meeting between the two since Trump initiated a series of attacks on Powell and the Federal Reserve regarding interest rates.
President Trump’s visit to the Fed was also historic, marking the first time a sitting president visited the Federal Reserve since George W Bush attended the swearing-in of Ben Bernanke as chairman in 2006.
