A knife attack in the eastern French city of Mulhouse left a passerby dead and three police officers injured.

French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that this incident is an “Islamist terror act.”

According to France’s anti-terror prosecutors, local police officers were the suspect’s first targets. During the attack, he allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest).

Officials have managed to apprehend the suspect.

The suspect is a 37-year-old man who has been placed on a terrorism prevention watchlist, as informed by prosecutors.
