Apple’s Declaration: Majority of iPhones Sold in US to Originate from India – DW – 05/02/2025

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that India will play a major role in producing iPhones for the US market. He stated that a majority of iPhones sold in the US will be made in India, while Vietnam will be the country of origin for nearly all iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPod products sold in the United States. This announcement came as the tech giant seeks to mitigate the impact of US President Donald Trump’s tariff policies on its supply chains, sales, and profit margins. Cook also expressed uncertainty about the precise impact of the tariffs and estimated that they could add $900 million to Apple’s costs in the April-to-June quarter if the current tariff rates and policies remain in place.
