DeWitt CEO warns US media reductions pave the way for influence by China and Russia

The head of Deutsche Welle, Peter Limbourg, has called for a reevaluation of drastic cuts to the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM) imposed by US President Donald Trump. The future of broadcasters like Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and Voice of America (VOA) hangs in the balance due to these cuts. Limbourg argues that these cuts will weaken freedom and strengthen autocracy, as other authoritarian governments will be able to fill the void left in international broadcasting. He emphasizes that Europe must act urgently to support its own international media organizations to counter the risk of disinformation from these governments.
