Violent confrontations surrounding the tomb of a 17th-century Mughal emperor in Nagpur, central India, have left at least a dozen people injured and multiple vehicles damaged, as reported by the police on Tuesday. The incidents happened during protests by a Hindu nationalist group who have been advocating for the removal of the tomb of former Muslim ruler Aurangzeb, a figure despised by Hindu nationalists.
The NDTV, a local broadcaster, stated that the violence began when protesters set fire to an image of Aurangzeb. Following this, the aggressive groups burned vehicles and vandalized homes, according to the Press Trust of India news agency.
