A coal mine in the northern Asturias region of Spain was struck by an explosion on Monday, according to confirmation from emergency services. They had initially received a report of a “machine problem” at the mine.
Local authorities confirmed the deaths of at least two individuals and reported that three others sustained serious injuries. Further information suggests that a total of nine people were injured and four went missing.
Emergency responders, including helicopters and ambulances, were dispatched to the affected mine in Delgana.
