Heathrow Airport will remain closed throughout Friday due to a fire that erupted at an electrical substation located near London.
The fire at the North Hyde electrical substation in Hayes, about 6.5 kilometers (4 miles) away, resulted in power outages for thousands of homes and prompted the evacuation of over 100 individuals.
In a statement on X, Heathrow Airport announced, “To ensure the safety of our passengers and employees, Heathrow will be closed until 23h59 on March 21st.” The airport has advised passengers against traveling to the airport and directed them to contact their airlines for further information.
