Israel Delivers Humanitarian Assistance to Gaza via Air Drop – DW – July 27, 2025

The United Kingdom is collaborating with Middle Eastern allies, including Jordan, to air-drop aid into the Gaza Strip and facilitate the evacuation of children requiring medical care, as announced by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office on Saturday. Following a tripartite phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the leaders agreed on the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and the necessity for a robust plan to transition from an urgently needed ceasefire to lasting peace. They expressed their intention to work together on a plan that could lead to a long-term solution and increased security in the region. Despite the agreement, there are differences in the extent of criticism towards Israel among the participating countries, with France set to officially recognize Palestinian statehood later this year. The call to action comes in the wake of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ criticism of the international community’s response to widespread starvation in the Gaza Strip, which he described as a moral crisis. Israel has announced it will now allow airdrops, initially requested by Jordan, mainly for food and milk formula. However, the head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has expressed concern over the feasibility and potential risks of airdrops, advocating for political will to lift the siege and provide safe and dignified access to those in need.
