Andrew Tate, an internet personality, is facing 10 criminal charges in Britain, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for financial gain, as announced by the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on Wednesday. These charges relate to three complainants. The CPS had authorized these charges against Tate before issuing an extradition warrant in 2024, aiming to bring him from Romania to the UK.
Tristan Tate, Andrew’s brother, is also charged with 11 offenses, including rape, actual bodily harm, and human trafficking, concerning one complainant. Prosecutors confirmed the authorization of these charges against both Andrew and Tristan Tate for offenses involving rape, human trafficking, controlling prostitution, and actual bodily harm against three women. A European arrest warrant was issued in England in 2024, leading to the Romanian courts ordering the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate to the UK.
However, a CPS spokesperson stated that the brothers’ domestic criminal matters in Romania need to be resolved first. The Tates had flown to the United States in February after Romanian prosecutors lifted a travel ban, and then returned to Romania in the following month to handle their legal obligations. Known for promoting an ultra-masculine lifestyle, former kickboxer Andrew Tate has gained a large following online.
The criminal charges against Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan include serious allegations of misconduct. These charges, which cover a range of offenses from rape and human trafficking to controlling prostitution, highlight the severity of the legal issues the brothers are facing. While they have denied any wrongdoing, the legal process will now move forward with the extradition process to resolve these charges in the UK, pending the resolution of their ongoing criminal matters in Romania.
