Officers were dispatched to a report of a nude individual on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City when they found the artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, around 6am local time.
Following a brief altercation where he “ran towards officers,” he was taken into custody and transported to a hospital due to a suspected drug overdose.
He was subsequently detained on suspicion of misdemeanor obstruction of a public officer.
Representatives for the rapper did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Videos published by TMZ appeared to show the artist in his underwear and boots on the street, at one point placing a traffic cone on his head.
A Record-breaking Artist
The 26-year-old Lil Nas X rose to fame with his 2018 hit “Old Town Road,” which held the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for a record 19 weeks.
He made history as the first openly gay man to win a Country Music Association award for that song, which also earned him two Grammy Awards.
His debut album “Montero,” released in 2021, reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 and was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year.
