NASA launched its latest space telescope, SPHEREx, on Tuesday, aiming to create a detailed color map of the sky.

Lifted into orbit by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The US space agency asserts that the telescope will shed light on the formation and evolution of galaxies over billions of years and the rapid expansion of the universe in its early stages.

Four satellite companions, sharing the size of a suitcase, were included to further investigate the sun.
