Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized due to double pneumonia for more than two weeks, spent Friday night without any extra complications and is currently resting, according to the Vatican’s latest update. Although further details were not provided regarding his condition, the Vatican mentioned that his next medical report will be available at approximately 7 p.m. (1800 GMT).
On Friday, the 88-year-old pope had experienced an “isolated breathing crisis” and received non-invasive mechanical ventilation. He also had an episode of vomiting, aspiration, and a sudden deterioration of his respiratory condition. Since February 14th, Francis has been receiving treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital due to a severe respiratory infection that evolved into double pneumonia, making it difficult for him to breathe.
Vatican’s health experts believe that due to his age and overall health, Pope Francis’ recovery will take time. Despite his condition, he has continued to lead the Vatican from the hospital. Due to his previous lung issues, Francis is more prone to lung infections.
