On Saturday, four foreign hikers who had been missing in the central Philippines since Wednesday were successfully rescued. This rescue came a day after two of their companions were also found safe.
The missing group included nationals from Germany, Britain, Canada, and Russia, and they had separated while hiking to Mount Talinis in Valencia. Initially, two hikers were found on Friday in an inaccessible area near the volcano.
The remaining four men were rescued on Saturday morning at 9:44 am (0144 UTC) in Amlan municipality, Negros Oriental province. They were reportedly found safe near a hydroelectric power plant and were being transported, as per the Philippine News Agency.

Enemy Weather and Challenging Terrain
Police had previously mentioned that weather and the challenging nature of the trek likely contributed to the hikers becoming lost. The group had undertaken the hike without a guide, and the rescue efforts were hindered by heavy rain. Volunteers also utilized drones for an aerial search of the region.
Mount Talinis is the second highest peak on Negros Island.
