A drone strike by Russia on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, resulted in nearly 50 people injured on Friday, according to officials. The attack, which targeted four districts, caused fires and damaged residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and vehicles. This is not the first time Kharkiv has been targeted by Russian forces, as it has been a repeated location of attacks since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The attack comes before a three-day ceasefire announced by Russia, which Ukraine has denounced as a “manipulation” for an annual Kremlin parade.
