US President Donald Trump directed Attorney General Pam Bondi on Thursday to release the grand jury testimony related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, following court approval. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that the “ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein” should end immediately. Shortly after Trump’s statement, Bondi confirmed on X that the Justice Department would move to unseal the grand jury transcripts on Friday.
Additionally, Trump is facing scrutiny for his past ties to Epstein, a wealthy financier who was arrested on child sex trafficking charges and died in jail in August 2019. Trump denied writing a crude letter to Epstein, calling reports “false, malicious, and defamatory” and threatened to sue The Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch. The Epstein case has caused a significant rift between Trump and his loyal MAGA supporters, who accuse the administration of shielding powerful figures tied to the case.
