On Tuesday, the Trump administration released thousands of previously classified documents concerning the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy. This action followed an executive order initiated by President Donald Trump after he took office, instructing the release of unedited government files on Kennedy’s assassination. Kennedy was assassinated during a visit to Dallas, Texas, in November 1963, and conspiracy theories surrounding his death have persisted. The National Archives website featured over 1,100 files, totaling more than 31,000 pages on Tuesday evening, with an estimated 80,000 new pages set to be unsealed. In the past, authorities have already disclosed tens of thousands of documents. Several experts in JFK studies stated that they are currently examining the new information, which will require time to analyze. While officials have concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole gunman responsible for Kennedy’s murder, polls indicate that numerous Americans continue to believe in a conspiracy theory.
