Ukrainian President Zelensky asks for increased pressure on Russia from allies before upcoming negotiations, according to DW on March 23, 2025.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday urged Ukraine’s allies to increase pressure on Moscow to put an end to the ongoing war. This call followed a series of attacks by nearly 150 Russian drones targeting Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities overnight, resulting in at least seven fatalities.

Zelenskyy emphasized in a social media post the need for new decisions and increased pressure on Moscow to halt these strikes and the war as a whole. He also mentioned the ongoing talks regarding a partial ceasefire.

The Russian-US and Ukrainian-US discussions scheduled to take place concurrently in Saudi Arabia on Monday may now occur one after the other. The Ukrainian and US delegations are set to meet on Sunday, without further details regarding this change in format.

A total of over 1,580 guided aerial bombs, nearly 1,100 attack drones, and 15 missiles were utilized against the Ukrainian people this week alone, strssing that these weapons contain at least 102,000 foreign components. Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of enhanced sanctions against Russian terrorists and elimination of loopholes within the sanctions regime.

Russia has downplayed hopes for a quick resolution to the war in Ukraine, stating that talks are just beginning and “difficult negotiations” lie ahead. The main focus of Russia’s discussions with the United States will be the possible resumption of a 2022 Black Sea grain deal, ensuring secure navigation for Ukrainian agricultural exports.
