The bomb was discovered “in the middle of the tracks” in the Saint Denis area, according to a statement from France’s national rail company. The Paris suburban rail company also confirmed that the bomb was from the WWII era.
All train services to the station were suspended as local police worked to deactivate the explosive.
Gare du Nord, situated north of Paris, is the country’s busiest train terminal, accommodating Eurostar trains, high-speed trains, and local trains.
According to the railway company, approximately 700,000 people pass through the station daily.
