On Sunday, President Donald Trump announced plans to impose a 100% tariff on films produced outside the United States, claiming that the American film industry is “dying a very fast death” due to foreign incentives aimed at attracting U.S. filmmakers. Trump described this as a concerted effort by other nations, framing it as a national security threat and an issue of propaganda, as stated on Truth Social. In response, Trump authorized government agencies such as the Department of Commerce to initiate the tariff imposition process.
Additionally, Trump mentioned that Stephen Miller, his deputy chief of staff, is a leading candidate to become the new national security adviser, following Mike Waltz’s expected nomination as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Waltz had faced scrutiny due to his involvement in the “Signalgate” scandal.
