In the wake of a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit near Mandalay, Myanmar on 28 March, temporary field hospitals have emerged throughout the country.
In the aftermath of the earthquake, which has left thousands of buildings in ruins and hospitals scrambling to cope, health workers from Bhutan and Russian medics are providing medical care to hundreds of injured individuals in makeshift centers.
According to the military-led government, the earthquake has claimed more than 3,000 lives, injured 4,715 people, and left 341 individuals missing. Local media reports hint that the actual number of casualties may be significantly higher.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, with teams still excavating through the debris nearly a week after the disaster, and the full extent of the devastation is only beginning to be understood, given the collapsed infrastructure including roads and bridges.
