An incident in Puchong, close to Malaysia’s capital, has led to multiple injuries following a massive fire sparked by the rupture of a gas pipeline, which caused flames to spread to residential areas.
On Tuesday, at approximately 8:10 am local time, a pipeline explosion in Putra Heights resulted in a blaze visible for miles, reaching heights of up to 20 stories and lasting for several hours. The incident has affected at least 112 individuals, with 63 requiring hospitalization due to burns and breathing difficulties.
Petronas, the national oil company, has confirmed that the fire originated from one of its pipelines, which has since been isolated. The blaze expanded to affect 49 homes, necessitating the evacuation of residents as firefighters endeavored to bring the fire under control.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and how it could be prevented in the future.
