Lyon Festival 2025: Top Performances to Watch at One of the Year’s Hottest European Events

Tickets for Europe’s top pluridisciplinary festival go on sale today at midday CET. Here are our picks for this year’s standout lineup.

You’re missing out if you’ve never heard of the Nuits de Fourvière festival, one of Europe’s richest and most thrilling events.

Taking place every summer among the ruins of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Théâtre Antique de Fourvière, this festival stands out with its unique location and diverse lineup.

This year’s festival, running from 2 June to 26 July, continues the tradition with performances by Kraftwerk, The Kills, Kool & The Gang, Chilly Gonzales, and The Libertines, alongside various circus, magic, and theatre acts.

Tickets go on sale today (Wednesday 19 at 12pm), so here’s our curated selection of shows not to miss this year. The absence of the mentioned names from our list speaks volumes about the quality of this year’s lineup.

Fontaines D.C.

When? 9 June 

Following the success of their album ‘Romance,’ which was among our favorite albums of 2024, the Dublin quintet Fontaines D.C. is set to perform in Lyon. Known for their exciting and innovative sound, seeing them live is an opportunity not to be missed.

Cirque Queer

When? 12 June 

Cirque Queer, since its formation in 2020, has become renowned for its joyfully exuberant shows that reimagine circus and freak show traditions. Their performance under a big top on the stunning Place de la Croix-Rousse is a highlight of this year’s festival.

Clara Luciani

When? 13 June 

French singer-songwriter Clara Luciani, known for her work in the rock band La Femme, returns to the Nuits de Fourvière. Her albums have cemented her as a promising voice in French pop, making her a must-see at this vibrant moment in her career.

Benjamin Millepied – GRACE – Jeff Buckley Dances

When? 17-18 June  

Renowned French choreographer Benjamin Millepied presents a dance show celebrating the music of Jeff Buckley, offering a spellbinding experience through dance tableaux.

Cypress Hill

When? 29 June 

With hits like ‘Insane in the Brain’, ‘Superstar’, and ‘When the Shit Goes Down’, Cypress Hill’s show promises to be an unmissable event.

Beth Gibbons

When? 30 June  

Celebrating 30 years since Portishead’s debut, Beth Gibbons performs her solo material, promising a poignant and sensual concert experience.

La Femme

When? 3 July 

French psychedelic punk band La Femme is known for its energetic shows. Their appearance is set to be a treat for fans of their recent album ‘Rock Machine’.

De La Soul / Oxmo Puccino / George Ka – H.I.P.H.O.P.

When? 5 July 

The collaboration between American hip-hop pioneers De La Soul, French rapper Oxmo Puccino, and slam poet George Ka promises an electric night titled ‘H.I.P.H.O.P.’

Max Richter – In A Landscape & The Blue Notebooks

When? 11 July 

Composer and pianist Max Richter brings his enchanting compositions to Lyon, playing from his albums ‘In A Landscape’ and ‘The Blue Notebooks’, which has been ranked the top European album of the 21st century.

Compagnie Bravache – L’illiade

When? 16 July 

The Compagnie Bravache challenges itself to perform “The Iliad” in 50 minutes, offering an epic and amusing theatrical experience.
