Ukrainian soldiers paid tribute to Dominic Abelen, a New Zealand soldier of Māori heritage who perished in 2022, by performing a haka. The ceremony honored Abelen, whose remains were recently repatriated to Ukraine. In recognition of his service, he was posthumously awarded two medals.
