NGO alerts EU to potential increase in illicit Russian timber trade due to suggested revisions in deforestation legislation.

Most EU member states are advocating for modifications to the EU deforestation law which might inadvertently increase illicit timber imports from sanctioned Russia and Belarus. This warning comes from the NGO Earthsight, which alleges that the states championing these changes have vested interests in the black market timber trade.
