The M23 rebel group is scheduled to convene with the Congolese government for discussions regarding peace on March 18th.

During the month of January, there was an escalation of tensions as a Rwanda-sponsored group took control of significant regions in the eastern part of the Republic of Congo, where valuable minerals are abundant.
