A Peruvian fisherman named Maximo Napa, who had been lost at sea for 95 days, was found alive after a lengthy ordeal in the Pacific Ocean. Napa survived by consuming unconventional sources of food such as roaches, birds, and sea turtles. He was located by an Ecuadorian fishing patrol approximately 680 miles off the coast of Peru and was severely dehydrated upon discovery. The man had left Marcona, a coastal town in Peru, on December 7, 2024 for a fishing trip, intending to be out for only two weeks. During his time at sea, he relied on rainwater and eventually ran out of food, going without for the final 15 days. Napa maintained his will to live by thinking of his family and granddaughter, and his mother expressed gratitude for his return, noting that her daughters never lost faith. After his rescue, Napa reunited with his brother in Paita, Peru and is set to undergo medical examinations.
