On Sunday, Israel retaliated after Hamas fighters launched several rockets towards towns in the Southern District of Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by targeting rocket launchers in the Gaza Strip from which the projectiles had been fired. The rockets were directed at Ashdod and Ashkelon, causing damage and debris in several locations. Out of a total of 10 rockets, Israeli forces managed to intercept half. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mandated a forceful response and endorsed continued intensified IDF operations in Gaza against Hamas. The IDF also shared footage of a neighborhood affected by a rocket strike, highlighting Hamas’s continued targeting of Israeli civilians while hiding among Gazan civilians. These attacks occurred during ongoing IDF efforts to neutralize terrorist cells in the Middle East, including recent airstrikes on Syrian military airfields and the killing of a terrorist leader responsible for several murders.
