Mexican leader rejects Trump’s proposal to deploy U.S. military forces for assistance in combating drug trafficking organizations.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has refused U.S. military aid offered by President Donald Trump to support the fight against drug trafficking and violence from cartels, as confirmed in response to a Wall Street Journal report. Sheinbaum told Trump that Mexico would not accept the presence of the U.S. Army on its soil, emphasizing territorial sovereignty and the ability to collaborate without military presence. The White House, through Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly, acknowledged coordination efforts with Mexico for border security and尺 highlighted tangible results like the extradition of cartel leaders. Despite using CIA drones for surveillance, Kelly stressed that Mexico must do more to contain the influence of terror groups and the drugs affecting both countries. The Heritage Foundation suggested a cautious approach towards military action against cartels, emphasizing joint efforts with Mexican coordination as a preferred strategy.
