Mexico has initiated the process of extraditing numerous high-ranking drug cartel leaders and members to the United States, including Rafael Caro Quintero, the former leader of the Guadalajara cartel who was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in 1985. This move comes at the request of the U.S. government as President Donald Trump’s deadline for tariffs on Mexico looms. Among those to be extradited are Miguel and Omar Morales, also known as Z-40 and Z-42, the founders of Los Zetas. The extraditions are part of efforts to address dangerous cartels and the production and distribution of fentanyl.
