Peace talks between the United States and Russian delegations aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine are currently underway in Saudi Arabia, according to media reports. These discussions follow a meeting between a Ukrainian delegation, led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and an American team in Riyadh on Sunday, which Zelenskyy described as “quite useful.” The negotiations are led on the U.S. side by Andrew Peek and Michael Anton, while Russia is represented by Grigory Karasin and Sergei Beseda. The discussions are centered around a ceasefire in the Black Sea, with future talks planned to address verification of the ceasefire, peacekeeping, and territorial issues. President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, believes that while Russia does not intend to invade Europe, significant progress is expected from the talks, especially regarding a Black Sea ceasefire. Despite a recent massive Russian drone attack on Ukraine killing seven, highlighting the ongoing conflict, the peace talks could present a step towards resolution.
