Seventh consecutive week: Pope Francis absent from Sunday Angelus prayer

Pope Francis has publicly acknowledged that this season of Lent serves as a period of healing for his soul and body. In a prepared Sunday Angelus prayer released by the Vatican, and for the seventh consecutive Sunday, the pontiff’s illness prevented him from delivering the blessing from a window overlooking St. Peter’s Square. Francis urged the faithful to view Lent as a time for healing, expressing gratitude for those who provide healing through their words, knowledge, kindness, and prayer. He also addressed global conflicts, specifically the ongoing war in South Sudan, and encouraged efforts to find a lasting resolution to the crisis. Despite still recovering from a respiratory infection, Francis has shown significant improvement and was recently seen in public after a hospitalization of over five weeks.
