The small nation of Armenia, home to a population of only three million, faces a population crisis that may endanger its existence. The country experienced a devastating war with neighboring Azerbaijan in 2020, in addition to a high infertility rate, resulting in a decline in demographics. As a response, the government is implementing measures to address this concern and aims to increase Armenia’s population to five million by 2050. In addition to this, there is an emphasis on preparing a new generation to handle potential future conflicts. This report by FRANCE 24’s Ilioné Schultz explores the situation.
