Morocco is investing substantial sums of money in diverting rivers from the north to meet the water demands of arid cities located in the southern regions. The “water highway,” which was officially opened in August, has successfully delivered over 700 million cubic meters (24.7 billion cubic feet) of potable water to the areas surrounding Rabat and Casablanca by early March.
