Brazilian President Bolsonaro denies allegations of coup involvement during testimony.

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro dismissed accusations of attempting a coup d’état to challenge the results of his 2022 presidential election defeat to left-wing opponent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro maintained that he always operated within the bounds of the constitution, while another defendant alleged that he was planning to declare a state of emergency. Furthermore, suspicions arose that he had received funds intended to finance an assassination plot against Lula.
