In response to US President Donald Trump’s plans to impose tariffs on goods imported from Canada, set to take effect on Tuesday, FRANCE 24 journalists have examined the border shared by these two neighbouring countries. The US has pressured Canada to allocate C$1.3 billion towards enhancing security measures along their mutual border. Despite statistics indicating that less than 1 percent of all illicit migrants and fentanyl intercepted in the United States originate from Canada, these security enhancements are still being implemented.
