Europe’s influx of weapon imports soars, as the US solidifies its position as the leading global arms exporter.


Over a five-year period, European NATO countries have witnessed a more than doubling of their arms imports, with the United States being the primary source for 60 percent of these imports, according to a report published by a prominent conflict think tank on Monday. Ukraine has surged to the top position as the world’s leading arms importer, while the United States has further solidified its standing as the world’s number one arms exporter, now responsible for 43 percent of all global arms exports.
