Germany’s Merz and Social Democrats Overcome Initial Obstacle in Formation of New Government Coalition

On Saturday, Friedrich Merz, the potential future chancellor of Germany, disclosed that the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party has achieved a preliminary agreement with the Social Democratic Party (SPD) to form a coalition government.
