Netanyahu stated that the leaders of the militant group must agree to disarm in order to leave the Gaza Strip. Some indications of Hamas’s willingness to relinquish control over the territory have been observed.

However, an Israeli airstrike on Sunday targeted a house and a tent housing displaced individuals, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people, including five children, as Palestinians celebrated the first day of Eid al-Fitr. Noga Tornapolsky reports from Jerusalem.
